Welcome to North Reading Youth Cheerleading.  Registration is open

‪from April 1st to June 30th.

This is a cheering program open to all girls in 1st to 8th grade.  The girls will learn cheers, jumps, stunts and tumbling.  The girls will also learn Cheer routines to be used at games and competitions.  The season typically ‪begins the 2nd week in August and runs ‪until the 2nd week in November.

Girls are generally assigned to their teams by grades.  Each team will then be assigned to a football team to cheer for on weekends.  The goal is to provide each cheerleader with a positive learning experience, good sportsmanship, team work

and to most importantly HAVE FUN!!!

Will there be extra practices?

Yes!!  Extra practices may need to be done in October and November, once it is closer to the competitions to fix and clean up a routine.

Are practices mandatory?

Coaches really like to have everyone at practices.  When learning a routine in a short amount of time with stunts involved, it ensures a safe environment for everyone.

We do understand that everyone has other commitments however, if this is an issue, please notify your daughter's coach immediately.  Otherwise, she will be expected to be there.

When are Competitions?

Competitions are held in late October and early November.

Where are the Competitions and how many will there be?

There are 2 required Competitions.  The Competitions are held at different high schools in the Cape Ann League.

The October Competition is held at Ipswich High School and the November Competition location has not yet been determined.

If your squad would like to compete in a 3rd optional competition, for Nationals, it will be determined at the beginning of the season and must be approved by the Cheer Director and Board.

The optional competition is held at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Ma in November with a chance to win a bid to Disney in February.   Parents will be responsible for the additional fees for Disney.  Fundraising will be allowed to help offset fees for Disney.

Will my daughter receive a uniform?

Yes!  Each girl will receive a uniform to use for the season.  Uniforms must be returned at the end of the season.

The uniform includes a skirt, vest, nylon zip back turtleneck and 2 bows.  (1 game day bow and 1 pink breast cancer awareness bow for the month of October)

Bows do not need to be returned.

When will my daughter receive her uniform?

You will be notified by your daughter's coach or Cheer Director when the uniform fittings will take place.  Uniform fittings will be done on two days at the Town Hall Gym in July and August.

Uniforms are given out on a first come/ first serve basis.  It is in your daughters best interest to attend one of these dates so she can be properly fitted for a uniform.

Unfornately, there will be long lines and do expect to wait on these days.

What additional things will I need to buy?

You will be notified by the Cheer Director when these items will need to be purchased.  This typically occurs in June before registration ends.  These items are non-refundable.

You will recieve your pre-paid raffle tickets at the uniform fitting.  Raffle tickets can be turned into the Snack Shack at any home game.  Please do not turn them into your coaches.

Will there be tryouts?

Tryouts are only done if needed.  This would only happen if a large amount of girls for a grade level signed up.  This would determine proper placement of cheerleaders based on their skill and experience.
